Take a look at the woodwork throughout this DeSoto house on 48 acres

Where will you find 48 acres of land less than 20 minutes from downtown Dallas? Your search may lead you to DeSoto, where you’ll find a property with a main house, a guest suite, a barn, a workshop and room for horses on the property. Inside the main house, you’ll find custom woodwork, light-filled living spaces and even a library with a storybook feel.

The home at 1000 Wintergreen Road in DeSoto was built in 1991 and has a stone exterior with porches on the first and second levels. From the porch, you can survey the surrounding acreage with its pond, room for horses and barn. The home is 6,632 square feet.

Listing agent Linda Baker with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty said the property is unique for its size and the views from the home.

“It has a wrap-around porch that goes around almost the whole first floor, which is super unique,” Baker said.

The home’s interior is full of custom woodwork. Paneling in the foyer conveys the classic design feel that’s present throughout the rest of the home. In the formal living room, there’s a wood fireplace mantle, crown molding and more warm-toned wood trim around the windows and doors.

Lest you picture a home full of dark rooms, note that the living spaces have large windows that offer natural light and views of the property. A dining room is located near the formal living room and has a sparkling chandelier in the middle of the space.

In the kitchen, the cabinets have a similar warm-toned wood color. There’s an island in the middle of the kitchen and a breakfast area off to one side. Doors along one wall in the breakfast area provide access to the outdoors. The home has a large family room with beams across the ceiling and a bar in one corner. The bar has built-in wine storage, cabinet space and seating at the countertop.

Four bedrooms are located on the second level of the home, including the primary suite. In the primary suite, there’s a sitting area with a fireplace and doors that access the second-story porch. Two of the remaining upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom and the third shares a bathroom with the nearby game room, Baker said. The home’s library has built-in bookcases, a rolling ladder and a nearby office. Baker likened the design to the library in the “Beauty and the Beast” film.

The property has a separate guest suite with a bedroom, bathroom and living area. While this space is a separate structure from the main house, a covered walkway connects it to the main portion of the home.

The property includes a barn and a workshop. There’s also an expansive patio area off of the main house.

The home is listed for $2,700,000. The address may also appear as 1000 W. Wintergreen Road in some searches.
