This Dallas property, with its separate apartment and art studio, fits this age of multifunctional residences.

Between the three structures on the 0.76-acre property, there is a total of 5,080 square feet of interior space. The main house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and one half-bathroom, and the apartment above the garage adds an additional bedroom and bathroom.

Architect Mark Domiteaux designed the home at 4303 Middleton Road as his personal residence, listing agent Janelle Alcantara of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty said. It was built in 1986 and has been updated since. After he sold the home, the original architect was on board when the next owners made updates that Alcantara said give the design a cohesive feel.

She said that the grounds feel like a serene botanical garden because of its landscaping and the positioning of the home and other buildings on the lot.

“The minute that you turn onto the drive, you really get the sense that you’re in a quiet, peaceful, mindful place,” Alcantara said.

A long gravel driveway runs down one side of the lot, and the main house is set back from the street, with a large front yard that is extensively landscaped. A privacy wall runs along the front of the house, parallel to the gravel driveway. On the interior side of the privacy wall, there’s a covered patio with enough space for a dining table and an outdoor cooking area.

The front door leads directly into the main living area, which is a large space with an open-concept design that connects a living room, a dining area, the kitchen and another living room space. French doors run along the wall in the first living area and provide access to the patio. The second living area has large windows, built-in cabinets and access to another patio in the backyard.

The main house has three bedrooms. The primary suite sits at the end of a hallway near the front end of the property, and it has French doors that provide access to the patio at the front of the home. The primary bathroom has a sauna, a steam shower and dual closets. The second bedroom has a full en suite bathroom and access to a private patio along the side of the house. The third bedroom is used as an office, and there is a nearby half-bathroom in the hallway.

Above the detached three-car garage, there’s a one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, a living and dining area, a bedroom and a bathroom.

Another separate structure on the property is used as an art studio and has a half bathroom, storage closets and a large open space. The studio was added to the property when it was owned by Dallas artist and photographer Nic Nicosia, who shot a film called “Middletown” in the neighborhood.

The home is on the market for $2,700,000.
