Trigg County High Faculty junior Shyanna Ennis is in her first yr of researching carpentry at the Caldwell Regional Job Centre in Princeton, and she would like to use that schooling to enrich her dream of opening an interior design and style company.

Ennis is this week’s Linked General Contractors of Western Kentucky Technological Middle Scholar of the Week.

“I desired a little something that I could find out far more in I wanted a little something that I was not absolutely relaxed in,” she mentioned of selecting to review carpentry. “I needed something that I could study in, advance in and then make one thing out of it in the foreseeable future.

“I chose carpentry simply because I’ve often been intrigued with the inside designer exhibits and the building exhibits, and I believed, ‘If they can do it, I can do it.’ ”

Ennis claimed she started out carpentry do the job by helping her aunt reconstruct an aged church into a dwelling.

Ennis has been included with Camp Cadiz, a Christian camp whose customers do projects to aid the elderly, including setting up ramps, portray and garden get the job done.

“I’ve normally leaned a lot more toward the prep function before the building staff do their jobs,” she reported. “So, I do the yard function element to put together them for it.”

Ennis mentioned she would like to go to university for at least two years with feelings of opening her have inside style company.

Greg Creekmur is Ennis’ carpentry teacher. He reported she arrived into the lessons with a know-how of the discipline.

“I enjoy whenever (Creekmur) usually takes the trust into us to perform on it ourselves,” she explained. “I like that he lets us have tips and we use all those strategies with his concepts and turn it into what (the venture) becomes.”

Ennis at present functions at Wendy’s but would like to find a task portray cabinetry that would enable her prepare for her planned career.

Ennis is the daughter of Ashley and Jamie Stewart of Cadiz.
