University Park custom home priced at $43M has six bedrooms, 23,688 square feet

For $43 million, you could make this 23,688-square-foot home in University Park your own.

It’s a custom home designed by architect Richard Drummond Davis, and it’s located on a 1.84-acre lot in the prestigious Volk Estates neighborhood. Construction on the home began in 2018 and work is still being completed. Due to supply-chain delays, elements like handrails, some of the exterior stone and pool fixtures have not yet arrived.

The grand estate project began as a custom home for Christy Thompson, daughter of late wildcatter J. Cleo Thompson. Last summer, Thompson told The News that she was listing the home because she wanted to take advantage of the current real estate market. Thompson also owns multiple luxury rental properties across the United States. If this University Park home doesn’t sell, she said she plans to move in, though she’s not certain what the timeline will be.

The home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. There’s also a home theater, a yoga and exercise room, a sauna, a spa, large living rooms and a grand kitchen. The home has multiple garages with 10 designated spaces, but co-listing agent Diana Stewart said you could fit more cars if needed.

Allie Beth Allman, who is also co-listing the property, said it’s the foyer with its grand double staircases and black-and-white “panda” marble that sets the tone for the rest of the house.

“The house itself is the most unbelievable quality that I’ve ever seen in a house,” Allman said, noting that it’s impossible to find a lot of this size in the Volk Estates neighborhood. “It has a wonderful flow, so it doesn’t feel as big as it is.”

You’ll find luxe details throughout the home. There’s an amethyst fireplace surround in the library, a green onyx bar in the great room, blue-hued quartzite countertops in the kitchen and doors from India in the primary suite that have a mother of pearl inlay. Note that the house has geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels and a 15,000-gallon ground water tank.
